    Applications 

    Cerium Nitrate Hexahydrate (Ce(NO3)3 · 6H2O) is a colorless rare earth salt. It is hygroscopic and air-sensitive and thus needs to be stored properly. It is used as a catalyst for hydrolysis of phosphoric acid esters. It is also a major source to make metallic cerium or other cerium compounds. One potential application is a refrigerant for use in magnetic refrigeration due to its paramagnetic property.
